  • Unmasking Implicit Racial-Bias: Toward Becoming Bias-Resistant August 28, 2026

    Cost: $60.00

As a society, we are finally beginning to understand that “structural racism” does not represent a single point of impact. We now know that it forms a web of barriers and obstacles for Black and Brown people the impact of which is adversely synergistic and compounding. As a result, Black and Brown individuals experience significant weathering and their communities remain on a perpetual downward trajectory. At the core of structural racism is racial bias, or race-based beliefs, attitudes, and ideas that are socially encoded and embedded into systems which perpetuate them. Today, anti-Black and anti-Brown racial biases, both explicit and implicit, are a deeply ingrained part of American culture. As such, our system of mental health actively facilitates and perpetuates racial bias. This presentation aims to help the participant to recognize their own implicit biases, how they are formed and assumed, and how to recognize them in systems and society. Strategies will also be offered to support participants’ becoming bias-resistant and ultimately reducing the undercurrent of racial bias in our mental health system at large.

  • Reducing Readmissions: Preventing Setbacks Through Safer Transitions September 02, 2026

    Free!

Hospital readmissions are costly, disruptive, and often preventable—especially for older adults transitioning home after a hospital stay. The Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP) evaluates readmission rates for six high-impact conditions and procedures: Heart Failure, Heart Attack, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery, Elective Total Hip or Knee Replacement, and Pneumonia.

Professionals play a critical role in ensuring safe, smooth transitions that reduce the risk of readmissions. This webinar will highlight the most common challenges older adults face after discharge—such as medication management, mobility limitations, and follow-up adherence—and provide practical strategies to address them. Participants will learn how incorporating home-based support can improve recovery, promote independence, and lessen the burden on family caregivers.

  • Kinship Care: What the Research Tells Us September 08, 2026

During this webinar, we will walk through what the research actually shows about placing children with kin rather than with caregivers who do not already share their family, culture, and community connections. That evidence is a major reason there has been a federal preference for placing children with relatives for almost thirty years, why states have built on that preference in their own laws, and why the movement toward kin-first child welfare agencies continues to gain momentum. But the research varies in quality — some of it is well-established, some of it is still debated, and some areas remain genuinely limited. We will walk through all three, honestly, so you leave with an accurate picture of what we know and do not yet know.
