R.A.C.E. training session 3 will focus on the difference between systemic and individual racism and will address areas in which there are disparities in systemic outcomes by race. Our speakers will address issues that create barriers for People of Color to obtaining appropriate mental health services and will introduce types of cultural adaptations and sources of resilience that are common in African American and Latinx people.

R.A.C.E. training session 4 will address trends in trauma statistics in BIPOC and will explain the roles of historical trauma, social context, and personal trauma of parents in the development of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences). During this training session our speakers will identify organs and/or systems in the human body that are impacted by toxic stress. We will define Complex Development Trauma, racial trauma, and identify their manifestations. Our speakers will also identify the phases of immigration when trauma may be experienced.

We should always process after a crisis so that both the child and the caregivers can learn from what just happened and how to keep a crisis from happening – or getting so big – in the future. Sometimes, it is appropriate to use natural, logical, and teaching consequences (NOT PUNISHMENT) afterwards to help set patterns of behavior and to repair relationships. This webinar will explore which of these types of consequences may be helpful.
