  • An Online Support Group for LGBTQ+ Families October 24, 2024

    FREE!

Each group will meet virtually via ZOOM on the third Thursday of each month.

    Meeting dates: 10/24/24, 11/21/24, 12/19/24, 1/16/25, 2/20/25, 3/20/25, 4/17/25, 5/15/25, 6/19/25, 7/17/25, 8/21/25

  • Reclaiming Identity through Collective Care May 30, 2025

Reclaiming Identity through Collective Care: Supporting Women in Grieving Trauma and Restoring Connection

A woman’s sense of identity is deeply personal and continuously evolving, shaped by her experiences, relationships, and the opportunities she pursues and the ones she does not. Trauma can profoundly impact this, leading to disconnection, fragmentation, and isolation, not only from others but from herself. The impact of trauma on identity influences every aspect of a woman’s life, from how she shows up in relationships to the roles she takes on and the paths she follows.

Grief is an integral yet often overlooked aspect of trauma recovery. Traumatic bereavement refers to the loss—whether of a sense of self, safety, or belonging—those results from trauma. The process of restorative mourning offers an opportunity for healing, allowing women to grieve these losses while re-establishing a sense of self. Traditional therapy often focuses on one-on-one support, which is essential, yet trauma-informed care also provides space to expand healing beyond the individual to the collective.

  • Advocating for Long-Term Care Facility Residents in 2025: Repelling Attacks and Moving Forward June 04, 2025

The first months of 2025 have brought unprecedented stress and uncertainty to the nation’s system of long-term services and supports (LTSS). The national-level threats include potentially devasting cuts to the Medicaid program, legal and legislative attacks on the federal nursing facility staffing minimums, and planned elimination of the Administration for Community Living. But amidst these long-term threats, advocates continue of course to assist current LTC facility residents.

This webinar will focus on nursing facilities and assisted living facilities and provide advocates with information on the national-level threats to the long-term services and supports (LTSS) system, along with information relevant to day-to-day advocacy. Among other things, the session will discuss recent federal nursing facility guidance on medication administration and admission agreements, along with states’ obligations to develop grievance systems for Medicaid Home-and-Community Based Services (HCBS) recipients.
