Residents’ Decision-Making Rights in Nursing Facilities and Assisted Living September 08, 2026

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Under federal law, residents of long-term care facilities have broad rights to make decisions regarding their lives. This webinar will include information on law and advocacy strategies that enable residents to participate in care planning, control the health care and medication that they receive, accept visitors at any hour of the day or night, and vote in the upcoming elections. In general, the assisted living discussion will apply to facilities that accept Medicaid payment for services.

Who Should Attend:

This training will provide strategies for professionals assisting nursing facility and assisted living facility residents, including:

• Long-term care ombudsman representatives.

• Legal services attorneys and paralegals.

• Other aging network professionals.
