  • Protect Medicaid: State Revenue Strategies for Aging & Disability Advocates March 10, 2026

States have to balance their budgets, so Medicaid, SNAP, and other public programs are all under significant risk. But cutting is not the only option; states can and should pursue sound revenue solutions instead. It is critical that aging and disability advocates and providers engage in budget and revenue discussions with their state policymakers now to protect the benefits older adults and disabled people depend on.

This webinar will include a discussion about what the H.R. 1 funding cuts mean for the program’s older adults and people with disabilities rely on to meet their basic needs and provide strategies for how advocates can engage with their states to protect them. Presenters will provide a high-level overview of state budget processes and revenue options and will share practical steps that aging and disability advocates and providers can take.

This webinar will be most useful for state-based advocates and providers working with older adults and people with disabilities, as well as budget and revenue advocates who want to learn more about issues impacting aging and disability services.

  • Social Respite Programs for Dementia: Fostering Connections, Community and Purpose March 24, 2026

Virginia has a growing number of social respite programs that meet a clear need in the continuum of dementia supports: providing social engagement and respite opportunities for people living with dementia, their caregivers and the volunteers that support these programs. Even in the early stages of the disease, people living with dementia can become increasingly isolated. These programs provide a space for socializing, participating in activities and providing purpose for people who may not need the full range of supports provided by traditional adult day programs.

    Learning objectives:

Describe the role and benefits of social respite programs for people living with dementia and their caregivers.

Identify key components of successful social respite models operating in Virginia.

Recognize opportunities to strengthen and expand social respite offerings through collaboration, funding, and community partnerships
