US: Words Matter: A Strengths-Based Approach for Family Foster Care (Opinion)
Chronicle of Social Change – August 11, 2016
The social work profession emphasizes the strengths-based approach, understanding that while individuals, families, and communities have challenges or needs (not weaknesses), it is essential to recognize the positives. In child welfare, strengths-based words and expressions remind us that we are serving children and families who deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
