US: Why Do We Criminalize Young Victims of Sex Trafficking?
Crime Report – January 17, 2017
Criminalizing juvenile victims of commercial sexual exploitation has been denounced by federal and state legislation across the United States; yet it still happens more than we would expect. According to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, there were approximately 700 juveniles arrested for prostitution and commercialized vice in 2014-the last year for which data is available.
