US: House Passes Rep. Chu Bill to Help Keep Families Together During Addiction Treatment (Press release)
Office of U.S. Representative Judy Chu – June 20, 2017
Introduced by Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27), H.R. 2857 will allow for states to be reimbursed for the care of children who stay with their parents while enrolled in a family substance abuse program. Under current law, states only receive a match in federal funding of 50% or more when a child is placed with a foster family during a parent’s treatment. Under this law, if a state decides a child can stay with a parent in treatment, the state can receive the full federal match for the child’s living costs.
