US: Differential Response and Safety in Six State Child Welfare Systems (Press release)(Includes audio)
U.S, Administration for Children and Families – June 17, 2016
A brief released by the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation examines child abuse reporting patterns in six states whose child protective services systems include alternatives to traditional child maltreatment investigations. This new research indicates that children living in counties with higher percentages of alternative response (AR) cases were as safe as or safer than children in counties that rely more heavily on investigations, as measured by re-report and re-report with substantiation within six months of the initial report.
