NJ: State Supreme Court upholds parental rights for poor parents
The Record – July 26, 2016
All poor parents have a constitutional right to an attorney when New Jersey’s child welfare agency seeks to remove children from their care. The state justices expanded that right on Tuesday to cover indigent parents who are sued by foster families or private adoption agencies seeking terminate their parental rights – the first step required before a contested adoption.
