NJ: Special advocates needed to help children in foster care
NJ.com – November 30, 2016
Every year there are more than 100,000 reports of child abuse or neglect in New Jersey. Of these children, more than 9,000 are removed from their homes annually because the Court has found it to be too dangerous for them to remain in their homes. In an effort to address these children’s many needs, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties (CASA SHaW) recruits, screens, trains, and supervises community volunteers to act as advocates in court for children living in foster care.
