Helpguide.org

Raising a second generation brings many rewards, including the fulfillment of giving your grandkids a sense of security, developing a deeper relationship, and keeping the family together. It also comes with many challenges. No matter how much you love your grandkids, taking them into your home requires major adjustments. But with the right guidelines and support, you can roll back the years and make a real difference in the lives of your grandchildren.

Engaging and Supporting Kinship Caregivers
When children are placed in out-of-home care, child welfare professionals most often seek family connections to try to prevent any additional trauma children may face. This also provides better connections to children’s family and culture. Kinship caregivers don’t always receive the same level of support as other foster parents do, which in many cases means missing out on resources that can alleviate additional stress. Find resources on this page to help guide your agency, organization, and/or community to better support and encourage kinship caregivers. Resources include State and local examples.

The Center for HIV Law and Policy
This report and guide outlines the medical and legal issues surrounding HIV and pregnancy in the United States. It makes it clear that persistent beliefs among medical, social service, and justice system professionals that women with HIV should avoid childbearing are unsupported by medical science or the law. The guide is the first of its kind, and charts the intersecting medical, ethical, and legal issues that can arise for HIV-positive women who are or may become pregnant. It underscores not only the legal basis, but the public health advantage, of treating women as active partners in their own and their newborns’ treatment, and recognizing their right to appropriate counseling and medical care that accommodates their reproductive options. The guide provides a frank, balanced discussion of the medical issues and options women will encounter at all stages or their pregnancy, and how to deal with legal issues that also may arise when their right to make choices are challenged.

Grants for Seniors in New Jersey
New Jersey has been chosen the fourth-best state to live in by the WalletHub in 2019 considering its educational opportunities, better living conditions, and secure neighborhoods. It holds the lowest crime rate in the Mid-Atlantic region. Although it was a very attention-grabbing state in the past couple of years by the elderly, it may be hard to live in this state economically. Since it gets people’s attention, the population density is high and sometimes living conditions can be difficult to afford considering the high demand and low supply. There is a whole range of programs and services that are offered by the State of New Jersey, the federal government, and local social organizations for seniors.

How to Become
Take Your First Step…
Many people use “job” and “career” interchangeably. While it’s true that each involves working and a wage, a career goes well beyond a paycheck. It’s the teacher who lesson plans at 7 a.m. for 25 rowdy second graders. It’s the nurse who spends time with the disabled veteran on her ward 30 minutes after she’s clocked out. It’s the social worker who makes sure the kids in her care have a warm meal and clean clothes at Christmastime. A career is a commitment; a career is hard work; a career is your passion. Are you ready to find yours?

It holds the lowest crime rate in the Mid-Atlantic region. Although it was a very attention-grabbing state in the past couple of years by the elderly, it may be hard to live in this state economically. Since it gets people’s attention, the population density is high and sometimes living conditions can be difficult to afford considering the high demand and low supply. There is a whole range of programs and services that are offered by the State of New Jersey, the federal government, and local social organizations for seniors.
