Traumatic Experience and the Brain
New advances in the study of neurology have been facilitated primarily through new technology. With the advent of technology such as the functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) and Positron Emissions Tomography (PET) scan, scientists can now study the brain in real time. It is difficult to find a parallel in other sciences to the doors that have been opened through these new tools. These technological advances are as important to neuroscience as the invention of the telescope was to astronomy.
