Defiant Children

  • Barkley, Russell

This manual is designed to serve several purposes.   First, it sets forth detailed instructions for conducting clinical evaluations of defiant or behavior problems children.  In doing so, a set of interview forms and behavior rating scales that may be employed by clinicians for conducting such evaluations is also provided.  Second, and more to the point, this manual specifies the step-by step procedures to follow in conducting a highly effective, empirically validated program for the clinical training of parents in the management of behavior problem children.  And third, this manual provides a set of parent handouts to be used during the course of the program.  Understand that this manual and the program it describes are not intended for use by individuals who have not had education and training in the knowledge and skills necessary to provide mental health services to behavior problem children and their families.
