What I Wish I Knew: A Caregiver’s Journey September 10, 2025

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Martin J. Schreiber is the author of My Two Elaines, which details his triumphs and challenges as a caregiver for his wife, Elaine, who lived with Alzheimer’s for nearly 20 years. Marty uses humor and compassion in his message of hope for caregivers of a loved one with dementia. He has presented throughout Wisconsin and the U.S. since launching his awareness campaign in 2016.

During this webinar, Marty will talk about some of the key insights and learnings he accumulated during his caregiving journey, and how it can help other caregivers, including:

• How the disease will impact your loved one over time
• The importance of taking advantage of support groups and individual counseling
• When to begin your search for respite help
• The impact on family and friends
• How to manage anticipatory grief (and ward off limitations to day-to-day functioning)
• The impact of unfamiliar settings on the care recipient
• Tools and resources you may not know are available
