Register for the Observations Status Appeals Webinar January 22, 2025

Justice in Aging’s Associate Litigation Director Carol Wong will join the Center for Medicare Advocacy’s upcoming webinar discussing the new appeal right, retrospective and prospective processes, and any updates or insights learned since the retrospective appeals became operational on January 1, 2025.

The appeals will allow certain hospital patients who are reclassified from inpatient to observation to appeal their status and potentially gain Medicare coverage of skilled nursing facility services that they otherwise would have to forgo or pay for out of pocket. Join class counsel as they review the new regulations and procedures, which are expected to become operational in early 2025. The webinar will review the basics of both types of new appeals (retrospective and prospective), who can appeal, and steps that people who think they are class members can take.
