Family Building Options and the Role of the Clinician: Adoption, Surrogacy and Artificial Reproductive Technology May 02, 2017
The path to family building options in the 21st century are vast. Social workers play a major role in this family building process. This conference will attract social workers and human services professionals who provide services to individuals and families at any stage of family building through adoption, surrogacy or other Artificial Reproductive Technologies (ART) options. It will increase attendee’s knowledge base on the intersection of specific issues (e.g. alternatives to parenthood, multi-racial and multi-transcultural families, special needs and older child adoption, open adoption, advocacy, the Internet and clinical treatment options).
Participants will be able to:
* Define at least one specific way to increase quality of care to the adoption and ART communities through attendance at plenary and focused workshops.
* Grasp current major best practice interventions and support models in the ART field.
* Identify and explore practice ideas that support knowledge advancement for the field, in order to best improve ART outcomes.
