Now We See You: Adolescent Depression November 04, 2022
This training offers vital information to ensure that providers and caregivers are able to recognize the symptoms of adolescent depression.
Depression is often misdiagnosed and untreated in adolescents, particularly in female teens of color. Special attention is paid to the issues and concerns for historically underserved, BIPOC youth. Using both didactic and interactive, experiential teaching methods, this training will highlight how the race and gender of both the client and the clinician impact the diagnosis and treatment. Connections are made in regard to historical trauma, family history, and the impact of social constructs on mental health. Concrete treatment interventions will be provided to increase more accurate assessment and prognosis.
6 CEs available to NYS LMHCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LMSWs, LCATs, NYS Licensed Psychologists and NYS Licensed Psychoanalysts provided by Hudson Valley Professional Development, LLC upon successful completion of training.
