National Center to Advance Peace Child Custody Training Series: Start by Listening September 26, 2024
Please join the National Center to Advance Peace for Children, Youth, and Families for this first webinar of a four-part training series on child custody. This webinar is for individuals and organizations working and in community with survivor parents, their children and parents who use violence and will offer perspectives that center child and survivor parent safety. We’ll highlight Jill Davies Survivor Defined Advocacy framework consisting of three core components: Listen, Connect, Offer. We’ll focus on the first essential act of listening to understand families’ realities, learn their priorities and support their strengths. Speakers from Caminar Latino- Latinos United for Peace and Equity and Futures without Violence will share considerations and tools for complex conversations around parenting and caregiving that center child well-being with the goal of motivating parents and supporting survivors as they consider and navigate safer pathways for their families. Future trainings will explore pertinent topics at the intersections of domestic violence and child custody.
