Multi-Cultural Perspectives and Cultural Humility in Developmental Disabilities July 25, 2025
Fee: $60.00
Formerly titled: Multicultural Perspectives in Developmental Disabilities. Disability exists in all communities and cultures; therefore, professionals need to expand their tool kits beyond disability-focused solutions and integrate the cultural context of the specific challenges at hand. Cultural humility is a framework whereby professionals reflect on our own culture, biases, beliefs, values, and worldview so that we may more fully understand and consider our impact on those we support. Additionally, it is crucial to identify the cultural values that are embedded into disability support systems and consider how these values may be either congruent or in friction with the ways that various cultural groups may conceptualize disabilities, services, and supports. [Required for Developmental Disabilities Certificate Program]
