Medicaid Cuts in H.R.1 – Updates for Aging Advocates August 13, 2025

In early July, President Trump signed H.R.1 also known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” after narrowly passing both the House and the Senate. The bill cuts over a trillion dollars from Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act while also removing protections for nursing home residents. These massive cuts significantly harm access to health and long-term care for low-income older adults and their caregivers and families.

This webinar will discuss the major changes to Medicaid, Medicare and other health care programs, including implementation timeline and process. We will also provide tips for advocates to best support older adults as provisions in the law go in effect.
