This workshop provides practitioners with a foundational understanding of the federal child welfare system that serves unaccompanied immigrant youth and clarifies how their circumstances differ from those of immigrant children in state-run systems. Participants will explore culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and legally informed approaches to practice, along with key policy considerations that shape care and decision-making.

Attendees will leave with concrete tools and resources to more effectively support youth who arrive in the United States without caregivers and to strengthen practice at both the individual and system levels.
