This workshop will also cover topics such as regional barriers; tips for working with “at-risk” youth; and more.
We will cover micro-expressions and how you, without knowing it, may be discouraging positive interactions with people. This workshop will cover cultural differences that may create barriers; non-verbal communication; and depending on social cues can greatly impact our work in less than helpful ways.
We will discuss the differences between cultural practices and stereotypes; how to avoid stereotyping; and how to connect with folks even when we do not have shared identities.
This will be a place for open and honest dialogue that will lead to real, sustainable growth for all participants. This workshop is designed to address common barriers to effect service with diverse populations.
Never knowing who is going to walk through your door and need your support, we must be open to any and all people. The way we do this, is by being more educated, practices, and self-aware.
This workshop will facilitate personal and professional growth so that providers working with traumatized populations such as CSEC survivors, diverse populations, minority, and marginalized populations with intersections of trauma will be better equipped and have a higher confidence and capacity to serve all survivors.
