Canada: Indigenous children over-represented in child welfare
Stony Plain Reporter – July 22, 2016
These are quotes from a video by the Office of The Child and Youth Advocate Alberta (OCYA), in light of a recent report published by the Auditor General’s office on the delivery of child and family services to indigenous youth. According to the report, almost 70 per cent of children in care are Aboriginal, even though only 10 per cent of children in the province are Aboriginal.
