Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) accounts are a tax-advantaged savings option that allows individuals whose disability began before age 46 to save up to $100,000 without affecting their Supplemental Security Income (SSI) eligibility. The recent expansion to include individuals whose disability began before age 46 made six million more people eligible for this option, including many individuals who receive SSI. Learning about ABLE accounts will help advocates ensure these newly eligible individuals can save money and keep their SSI.
